Well, she certainly has shown some very solid performances, including last years Dual Duel.
I think it's very difficult to asses people based on just a few (sometimes cherry picked) results, if you haven't seen them stand the test of time, or know them more directly.
Being able to play a couple of matches with a sub-3 PR, or cleaning out in a quiz, simply translates to you being a strong player with potential. It doesn't translate to you being a sub-3 PR player in general and one of the worlds best 16 players.
Especially a small sample size and/or a short timespan on your observations, means that a lot of variance must be considered.
Eg. if the first match you saw from Akiki was this one:

...you'd probably wait for a lot of good input before placing her on the first page of your ballot.Now, Mochy is one that really knows Akiko's game, so his "endorsement" must carry some weight. Also the points Stick mention (traveling and participating in many tours, studying the game hard, etc.) are positives.
I really wonder who will be the first female to make the list? Pia Jeppesen is another contender, though she's probably not that known outside Denmark.
