Four Strokes of a backgamon move 1999

Yesterday at a chouette a point was raised and I remembered,

Back in 1999 based on my practice as a tournament director and international rules at that time (mostly US, WBF and BIBA) I drew my own tournament rules.

....

A backgammon move consists of 4 strokes. 1. Cube action. 2. Dice shake. Dice roll. 3. Checker play 4. Move completion.

One can start one's own move after move completion by the opponent. One cannot make any stroke or parts of it out of turn. Cannot take cube action after dice shake. Cannot roll dice without shake. Premature strokes were penalized .

This targeted new BACKGAMON PROPER players who hitherto played without cups and doubling cube. I think it was a good "automation" of a backgammon move.
