Of the two running plays, 24/16 and 23/15, I prefer the latter. Against an opponent who is looking for an excuse to unstack his 6pt and 8pt, staying back should be better. In addition, clean-up from the 15pt is a little easier than from the 16pt.

Like you, I did not consider slotting, but it might be fine. Your opponent's priority is to develop structure on the front side, so several of his hitting plays would be duplicated. The fact that your rear checkers are split actually works in favor of the slot. Otherwise, running or spltting would clearly be better.
