eXtreme Gammon Version: 2.10

Priority One: The Anchor

The play I keep coming back to is C (Cross) = 24/20 11/6.

Foremost for me is to grab the 20pt while I still can. Leaving a blot there gives too many hit-and-cover numbers for White, allowing him to make either his 5pt or 3pt.

A distant second-best alternative is to make the 4pt. Third-best is making the 9pt. I guess that means making the 11pt is not an alternative!

For the 5, I wavered between slotting the 4pt and lifting the blot on the 11pt. I finally went with the latter. It leaves fewer blots and seems to create a more fluid structure.

The slot at the back of the prime is a mixed blessing. White is already running short of time, so he will surely hit if possible. On the other hand, if he misses, Blue will have a chance to make a broken prime.
