Frank,

What stick means here is that it does little of what we want in moving forward from the backgame. If you read Neil's analysis you'll see that this play isn't helping. And if you read Matt's analysis you'll see that lifting the checker doesn't really facilitate getting it out. It's simply a "blah" move, neither here nor there.
