So, I understand the reasoning, I agree with it (for clearing the 8), it all makes perfect sense to me. However, OTB, I'm going to play the inside natural play, with the understanding that I dont want a checker exchange, just accepting the consequences.

If every time we saw a similar position we decided to find a safe play that doesnt blot just because we dont want a homeboard blot when a hit fest is about to start, then we'd all be playing PR's of 10s and 12s.

So, my OTB play stands. 6/4,5/2.
