I have been around gambling since I was 12 or 13 years old. My parents didnt gamble, I started betting sports with the other kids in school. Seemed better than work to me, and it was. I cant recall who if anyone ever exposed me to action. I think I discovered it on my own time.
I have seen degens lose everything many many times. I could discuss the topic of gambling for hours. I have done research on this topic for many years. There is a genetic link to compulsive gambling that some people have others don't. kinda like drinking, dope, etc. It's a progressive disease for those who have the genetic problem.
I don't have it, I can walk thru a casino with $50,000 in my pocket, play one hand of 21 for $10, lose and walk out. Some people can't.
Exposing kids to action IMO aint a bad thing, I feel the same about alcohol. I used to drink a little shot of black berry brandy and play chess with my dad when I was a kid in 1st grade, fond memories. I barely drink, never had a issue with booze. I had friend who's parents forbid them to drink, I watched them turn into stone cold drunks when they had their shot when they went off to college.
my 3 cents
best eric
