The problem with your example is it's not the only example.

Consider Nancy Novice, who passes up an ABT tournament to compete in a LM event. She makes it to the final of a LM tournament and misplays. Her opponent, a Giant of a player, rolls without pointing that out. Nancy realizes she played illegally. How do you think Nancy feels, given her expectation that her opponent is responsible for her playing properly?

Did her opponent do anything wrong my not pointing out her mistake? If you have the answer to that, you're a lot smarter than I am. No matter. This was Nancy's final tournament.
