A bye was not a "bye" in Turkey. You still had to play a round, just not at that exact moment. So he still had to win the same number of rounds, though he got a "bye" at one point. The most "byes" in any round would be 1, I believe - in the event there was an odd number of people left after some were eliminated in the preceding round.

Also, there was a staff if about 20 at the past Turkish tournament. It ran exceptionally smoothly as he played.
