"It's 11pm, can we play without clocks? We'd have more fun!"

"It's 11pm, can we play without dice cups? We'd have more fun!"

"It's 11pm, can we play with do-overs? We'd have more fun!"

"It's 11pm, can we play without the cube? We'd have more fun!"

Your argument that the TD "should allow these players the flexibility to play without a clock if it harms no one who has an actual stake in the matter" doesn't seem to be much of an argument, since it applies equally well to the other three questions.
