"I'd try 13/8, keeping the back anchors and the board while minimizing hittable blots. Making the ace looks wrong because it removes all power from our hits. 13/11 13/10 loses too many gammons. Maybe 18/13 is better than 13/8, but I want to keep the bar anchor. "

This was the play I chose for all the reasons you list. It's biggest defect seems to be timing. Even if Blue is not hit, he will need to break another point (hopefully the 23pt) soon.
