The first position is very tough for me. It looks like an easy take and perhaps not yet a double, but I would double in practice. Some might be intimidated into a drop.

In the second position, the plays I would consider are: bar/24* 6/1*, bar/24* 20/15, and bar/20 2/1*. I think it's important to prevent White from anchoring so I would discard bar/24* 20/15 first. Breaking the 6pt is a little scary because it creates a hole that all of White's checkers could slip through, plus closing out two checkers already gives us a solid advantage. But the third checker back certainly jacks up our winning chances and we can't count on getting another whack at it. I would try hitting twice and hoping that White doesn't roll a 6.
