In Response To: Random Aces (Stick)

So, I understand that the rear checkers must be split, and conceptually, thats fine. However, why is 18/15,18/17 better than say 18/14? Is there some really obvious thing I am not seeing? I would debate over those two for a while I think.

What makes this play jump out?
