I think there is god sense in this. Often it's better to deal with your own challenges first(Making a 5 or a 6 in a given number of rolls) before dealing with the opp's 'possible' threats(making the ace).

I also made a rollout of the GG situation. Off course 24/23, 7/1* was superior. Hitting the ace gives a good interest rate when not hit :)
