Wycliffe board

A new friend of mine bough a Wycliffe Gen II boards a couple months ago. While playing on it last night I had observed that there was a small but noticeable depression on the surface. My guess is that something was jammed on the surface while the board was closed.

I don't know what the underlying surface is made of, but is there a way to fix this problem?
