doesn't matter

If you were not playing legal moves, this exact scenario could occur if one player claims a move was made illegally and the other player corrects it with an illegal move. Doesn't matter which rule is played if both players get mixed up. However, if it is a finals match and it is being streamed, if the players are at all unsure, they should agree to consult someone watching to confirm.
Also, I have always believed there should be a monitor for the finals and for major matches, and virtually any important match is a qualified monitor, acceptable to the TD and both players is available. The monitor would check to make sure plays are legal, that the score is right, and be an impartial witness to any disagreements to report to the TD, as well as watch for poor sportsmanship or anything irregular. He can also make sure the clock is proper and that the players adhere to the rules regarding the clock, time outs, etc.
