What the bot tells here is that NotSlotting loses roughly the same gammons. That is if you slot you are expected to lose about 11% gammons (those 1/9 shots will certainly help a lot). If you don't slot, you are always subject to the blowout attack when you leave his ace and he may also run via your open barpoint. And he always has gammon chances because of your smothered runners. When you do not run you can lose a gammon in an acepoint holding game with two or more men on it...

That is, it is very difficult to fulfill the task you undertake - to save gammons first AND THEN to try to win from there.

Philosophy: slotting the bar here has defensive value! When you make the bar, you can run safer. And lose less gammons:) As Neil said.

The difference with my (recollection) position is that I did not sit on a bad acepoint game. Vaguely remember I had only one checker back. So i didn't need take risks to prepare-slot, to make the bar and then run. I could run any time one die helped me.
