is this the best way to promote the game?

do you really think this is the best way to promote and help backgammon grow? what exactly is to be gained from all of this? whether or not you like it, whether or not you asked for it, you are to many, the face of the usbgf. how many prospective members are reading this and thinking, hmmm is this what i really want to get involved with? as far as your dispute w/ neal, i certainly don't know all the facts, but what i can put together is this. i don't think neal has any objection to teaching kids backgammon, his main argument is he doesn't think its right to bring the gambling aspect of the game to young kids. i can see his point and if you look beyond all the bluster maybe he's right. in 2 of your "shit list" bullet points you mention or reference betting/gambling/paying debts. someone has to take the high road, who is it going to be?
