Thanks; I've been mildly curious about what formulas XG uses.
Is this live cube takepoint of any practical use OTB? I just checked MCG's "Match Equity 201" article on Gammon Village, and XG's live cube takepoint is what he calls the "fully live takepoint" (I think—he doesn't explicitly mention the recursion), but in that article, he advocates for using the "perfect recube takepoint" for OTB use instead. I don't know if MCG has refined his heuristics since writing that article, though.
Is XG's "live takepoint" what Chuck Bower/John O'Hagan use for the 70% rule?
From discussions on rec.games.backgammon, I have the impression that XG's live takepoint is not what Stick means when he talks about a "live cube takepoint"; perhaps Stick already factors in the 70%.
