OTish: i5 or i7 for XG?

I'm currently shopping for a new PC on which I intend to run XG, and am hoping to tap into the wealth of IT and XG knowledge of BGOers.

I'm choosing between two CPUs:

i5-4690 3.5GHz, 4 cores, 6MB cache

i7-4790 3.6GHz, 4 cores with hyperthreading (8 threads), 8MB cache

I won't be overclocking.

I am having trouble deciding whether or not to stretch my budget and get the i7.

On the one hand, XG will perform better on the i7 (I am aware that hyperthreading will not double the effective number of cores for XG). I also guess that the i7 is likely to be more future-proof both for XG and for general use.

On the other, the i5 is significantly cheaper. If I'm only doing full rollouts occasionally the extra performance from the i7 is probably unnecessary. For my other tasks the i5 will be fine.

Any comments appreciated
