Backgammon Movies

A few months ago I had seen one of my favorite movies again after not seeing it for many years. I forgot there was a backgammon scene in it (probably because I wasn't playing the game back when I was seeing the movie regularly). The movie is called "Rushmore" and it came out in 1999. Really great Wes Anderson movie starring Bill Murray. And filmed in my hometown (at St. John's school in Houston). The main character is an over-achiever in high school and is president of his private school's backgammon club. There's a scene where he is playing in the library at a club meeting and it shows a close up of the board and his move, etc. Pretty cool.
I also help take care of my mom, who suffers from very bad neuropathy in her legs so I help out over at her house once in awhile. She loves to watch (don't laugh) old Columbo TV shows on DVD and I've seen two episodes with backgammon involved. "A Friend in Deed" from Season 3 has two villains in it and they know each other from a backgammon club (this was in the 70's). The opening scene takes place at the club and you see a bunch of people playing backgammon. They show a little bit of one game when one of the villains wins by rolling a double six joker (they have dialogue as well stating that he needs a double six to win). Season 5 episode "Identity Crisis" has a villain who is a gamer (one of the clues in the case is a broken poker chip) and when Columbo is at his house, he is walking around the game room and eyes a very expensive backgammon set. The villain asks if he plays backgammon and Columbo says he does. Not the neatest movies, but still, pretty neat to see backgammon in some sort of story.
