With gnubg, the cube errors patterns are different between 2ply and 3ply. One tends to be too aggressive, the other too conservative.
There are probably similar tendencies in checker play, at least for some classes of positions but I suppose they are harder to characterize.
Those are certainly not strongly marked personalities, but when using the bot as a sparring partner, it may be interesting to vary settings from time to time.
XG may show the same kind of variations from one level to another.
