13/2 leaves any 1 or 6 to hit for a total of 26 shots if I counted right. 61 whacks them both.

8/2 6/1* leaves any 1 or 2 to hit for a total of 20 shots. 11 whacks both.

Shot counting seems to favor leaving two blots in the homeboard I'm sure that's not the whole story, but I'll go with the play that leaves 20 shots instead of 26.
