The most difficult problems in backgammon?

A necessary condition, as you suggest, is that there's a lot of equity on the line.
I see this a lot - I know that there's a big equity difference in the various plays but I can't see which one is better. To me, that makes a position "difficult".
Some candidate situations:
When to hit loose When to abandon the anchor When to break of make a full prime when the alternative is more "aggressive". High anchor holding game cube actions which still flummox me despite lots of study. Cube action in an ill-timed backgame. Which direction is up in a three-anchor position.
Maybe I'll think of more tomorrow.
