Humility? In this country, IMO, you have to stand up and make the noise if you want people to listen.

So, yes, I think this is on the group of players to let us know. The open players tend to care more about the open division, and as such, we dont really check the other draw sheets - I may well be speaking for myself only here. This doesnt mean I dont care about advanced / intermediates, I do - and I hope they all do well, and I hope to see them move up into the open division. But, I tend to look for my friends on the sheets, along with other people I know, and that mostly is open players.

Don't get me wrong. I love all players equally, I just track the other divisions less is all.

The other challenge here is that when you are playing at a tournament, personally, I end up watching friends matches, chilling out, talking to people, getting Ray's latest theory on blitzing games (which, by the way, I like a whole lot), and of course playing**. So, sorry advanced players, and I mean this honestly, I'm not avoiding reporting on you, I'm just busy soaking up the greatest backgammon atmosphere and people around, and loving it. ***

** unless you are like me, and lost your opening matches, and are so thoroughly pissed about it that the appeal of food and beer is trumping all other things.

*** unless I'm losing. Then I'm loving it much less.
