Nack asks whether JOH's problem or the problem below seems harder. According to the Nactation tutorial, the correct play below is 6/4(2) 3/1*(2).

In JOH's position, I did not consider switching points, 5/1*(2). In the above position, 6/4(2) 3/1*(2) jumps out at me immediately as a candidate. Does that make it easier? I'm not sure. In the position below, which I posted to rec.games.backgammon not long ago in a series on switching points, I played 6/4(2) 3/1*(2) OTB. According to the rollout, that was a whopper. Prior to studying the position below, I would have judged 42P-53P-64S-22 to be easier than JOH's position. But now, 42P-53P-64S-22 confuses me. A little learning is a dangerous thing.

Oh, and here's another position from the same thread where 6/4(2) 3/1*(2) is a gigantic mistake.
