I think the win chance for the taker is a lot less than you do and also see 11 as a market loser.

This is a repeating situation. The market losers are effectively more numerous than it looks. Reconciling this with JOH law note that it includes something like: and are you doing OK on the non market losers. Here you are still doing a lot more than just OK on the bad rolls.

Also note that after you get down to two checkers to clear the market losers are suddenly much more numerous since a blotting number and then a miss is also a big market loss. If that means you will want to double when get to that situation you should be doubling immediately and take the gains from the immediate market losers.

As an extreme case of this to perhaps show the idea consider a game with a doubling cube where you are now at 70% and have a 1% chance of getting to 79.9% and a 99% chance of getting to 69.9%. The next roll after though you either win the game or lose it right away. You will be doubling that next roll so might as well double right now to gain on that very small chance of a small market loss.
