Since Blue's checkers have escaped, he loses few gammons; less than 5% I would guess. I don't think he wins a whole lot of gammons here either; with slightly good luck he will trap White's blot and roll the game home, but White will usually have time to move most of her outfield checkers home or close to home by then. Given that the position is not very gammonish, I think Blue should be looking to turn the cube when it's close to a pass. This already looks like it might be a pass; Blue is 22 pips ahead, so he doesn't even have to roll a nice number that makes the 4pt or 5pt to win this game. He can usually just win the race with middling rolls. My guess is D/P.
