Pure play? Is it the right idea here, and if so what *is* the pure play?

I would make the 4pt and regard that as the 'purist' play. Breaking from the 24pt with a 3 isn't a 'pure' play in my mind and I don't think it is right to try 24/21 8/4 or 24/21 6/2 when behind in the race and leaving yourself open on both sides of the board.
