Thank you for the analysis and the references to literature!

It is a great position, and it demonstrates an interesting conflict on decision making. I was a bit afraid of playing 24/20, 6/3* since it moves the backchecker to the hottest point of White's attacking zone. With the benefit of hindsight, however, 24/20, 6/3* seems to be justified by the hit 6/3* which takes half of the next roll from White. As for me, it was tempting to play the double hit as a compromise in order to gain time. This play is apparently a blunder (-0.129 in XGR++) due to its inefficiency.
