my gut says that you will need to escape checkers while the bot is bearing off, so i would hold onto the opp's 1 and 3 points. If I remember correctly, Jacoby and Crawford mention in "The Backgammon Book" that a 1-3 backgame is one of the most effective. I don't know if the bots agree with that now, but it's probably the best opinion i have heard on that question.

So, i would play 24/22, and try to find a useful one, say 8/7.

Bear in mind that i am usually incorrect on these things...Falafel would have a field day if i ever got into a match where he was commenting :O) Play well, have fun!
