There is just no compelling reason to break the midpoint. It doesn't help your position to break it, and keeping the midpoint does help your position. Especially on rolls like 66 (a huge swing), 11 and 61.
For me there are only 4 plays that make any sense: 24/23 8/6, 8/5, 8/7 8/6, and 8/7 6/4. Between those 4 I have no idea, although I doubt making the 4 point can be right. Other plays don't make much sense.
