Impossible Ruling

I am saying that if the rules of the game say you can take advantage of an opponent's errors, then you should live by those rules. And if non-legal moves is the rule, I think it is stupid (and wrong) of me to help my opponent by correcting his mistake.

I don't believe that is the way I want to see backgammon played, and the strong majority of people around the world agree, and that is why almost everyone has opted for legal moves.

So when we have rules that require us to NOT take advantage of an accidently illegal move, like bearing off the wrong checker, failing to hit an automatic hit, failing to take a checker off the bar that could have come in, etc., I no long am in conflict with the rules by being a good sport and pointing out the error and making an exception.
