In Unlimited nackgammon, the Jacoby rule is more important, because without it, the cube action would be more boring as players would tend to delay cubing a lot more because there are more potential gammons on from the outset, and for longer.
Actually, playing without Jacoby makes the cube action more interesting since you are faced with the question of whether it's TGTD. Jacoby takes that interesting question away and makes the game dumber overall. But I've never liked the Jacoby rule and basically never play using it.
