The Jacoby Rule does make the cube action more interesting, though it also tends to make the game itself less so of course, at least some of the time, for at least one of the participants.

At my suggestion however, my weekly playing partner and I have not played Jacoby for many months. I'm swings and roundabouts on it but, as it trains you up better for match play, I'm happy to stick with it.

I've still never really understood why, as it's less interesting for a player to be playing on for a gammon/bg, we don't count all games as single ones for any player who has access to the cube. Why the compromise of Jacoby?
