I normally use the term "double jeopardy" for a different situation, where there is just one high point to clear. Mochy posted here about avoiding double jeopardy back in 2010 (see also his blog entry). When gammons matter, it's usually better to rip a checker than to avoid double jeopardy. Avoiding double jeopardy is right more often at DMP than for money, but it is still often right to rip a checker because if you are hit, your winning chances will be better with another checker off. Also, depending on the timing, you may never have to pay at all (you might roll doublets or your opponent might be forced to run).
