Incidentally, do you know if the search interval affects the analysis of cube decisions?

Yes. Using a larger search space forces more cube decisions to be analyzed at a higher setting. This can occasionally overturn a cube decision. One of the subtler effects especially when using gigantic is that it will change some decisions to non decisions and vice versa.
