a) b/22 .... Blue is almost certain to have a choice about covering his 8pt with his next roll. If White hangs back on the 22pt with b/22 9/8 then Blue will make the 8pt and White will be severely out timed and his position will crumble. White must seek daylight with b/22 and hope Blue doesn't a 6 on his die straight away.

b) b/22 8/4 ... Blue will likely cover his own 8pt and White doesn't want to duplicate his good 1's by leaving his 8pt slotted. White needs to hope he can restrain blue behind a 5 prime, or blitz Blue, while still finding time for 1's and 6's to escape the prime.
