If there was interest in this idea it would be a good time to begin as streaming is really starting to take off.

I checked back in my archive and whilst I'm not sure I have all the matches available I have an awful lot. I randomly selected eight top players who I knew to have been streamed a fair bit. In 2012 I have 45 matches for these players taken all together. In 2013 for the same group of eight players I have 125. So far in 2014 I have 135 with four months to go.

Of course some players get streamed much more than others. The number of matches for each of the eight players in 2012 were 0, 0, 0, 1, 5, 7, 9 and 23. For 2013 it was 1, 8, 9, 9, 12, 14, 26 and 46. So far in 2014 it is 3, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 21, 57.

It is not always the same players who get more streaming as some miss tournaments or enjoy a string of good results. The under-four challenge also attracted streaming recently in Carolina. You might also want to agree criteria for what matches to include. For example, the figures I give above do not include DMP matches from the World v. Denmark at the Nordic Open or the score-based matches or DMP from the Giants challenges in Chicago.

Unless there was a way to include matches transcribed from other video sources the rating might then be limited to the very top players who are streamed regularly. However that is not to say it would not be interesting and it might encourage more streaming and other video-taping if those match transcriptions can be included in the rating system as well.
