Thanks, Ian. This is a nice quiz. I kept wondering where all the easy questions were. Finally, I found one in question 4, which I hope I did not miss!

Here are my responses.

  1. Make the 5pt. Slotting (13/11, 6/5) must be worse than simply making the 5pt, but splitting (24/23, 13/11) is probably not a bad play.
  2. As soon as Blue rolls a 5, this becomes too good. Is it too good already? Perhaps, but I would cube. I'm not sure if White can take. I think this is a pass, but it looks close.
  3. Unstacking seems clear. White may pay a big price if he breaks his anchor to hit. 21/15 13/10.
  4. Pre-clear: 7/6, 7/4.
  5. Lift, and bring wood down: 13/8, 4/3. With three checkers up, it is not necessary to leave the 4pt slotted. Just be ready to hit again. That's why I like 13/8 better than 20/15.
