Great Work

Congratulation to you and all of your co-workers and a big thanks for all the things you are doing to promote backgammon in Great Britain and throughout the world. The participation you get in your events in terrific, not only from the English people, but having Mochy, Michy and Akiko coming from Japan, and many others from other countries, when there is not big money involved, shows the prestige and fun and other rewards as well that people receive playing in your events.

We need to emulate what you do here in the U.S. and elsewhere, and I am happy to say that the USBGF does offer some free events and many on-line events as well, but we can all do more to promote tournament play and the game in general.

Why should every country and group have to reinvent the wheel, when we already have a great blueprint for success from you Brits? Hopefully, some day there will be an international backgammon federation and an international committee to set up and run similar events all over the world. If we think bigger and work collectively, the whole will be bigger than the parts and the potential to attract more sponsors, more money, more publicity, and more players will greatly improve.
