My forum view isnt arranged so that I can see who you replied to, but its an easy question to answer. Clearing against an advanced anchor - specifically the 2pt creates bad 5's and 6's from both the 7 & 8 points. When clearing is your primary goal, then it is a good plan to reduce your future liabilities, and take out points that are more likely to cause you problems, like the 7pt here. You also get to put a spare on the 3, which is in front of the anchor, which is good, and you arent over dumping to the acepoint.

Preclear the 7pt here, and suddenly you dont have bad 5s from there that force you off your 8pt, or bad 6s that force you off your 7pt. Your likelihood to leave a blot is reduced dramatically.
