That 30% v -15% ROI is quite an interesting statistic for two reasons. One is that if it can be replicated to get a high level of confidence in it, then it demonstrates that there is indeed at least a decent amount of skill in tournament poker. Secondly however, when one considers the compound effects of the 'round by round' edge (i.e. halving the size of the (big) WSOP field again and again, then it is much less than many of the inflated egos in poker would have you believe. Plus one has to balance the edge in relation to variance (e.g. S=ROI/VAR etc.) for bankroll management purposes.
