In chess, it is common to use a special set in which Black and White pieces are distinguishable by feel. The board has an indentation in each square into which a peg at the bottom of each piece fits. The blind player is allowed to touch the pieces as much as he or she wants, but is not allowed to move them except when actually making the move.
