Kudos to Karen Davis

You're right, Ray. I'll reiterate my thanks to her here in addition to thanking her on the cover of our brochure and during the announcements of each event. Karen donated the trophies at this tournament, the previous tournament, and has already offered the same for the next tournament even though she likely will not be able to attend due to business conflicts.
Karen's professional, non-backgammon, resumé is as impressive as anyone's I know in the game, and what she does for backgammon, in both time and money, puts most people to shame. I don't know how she finds time to do all that she does.
In addition to what she does for the USBGF and for our local ABT events, she has been extremely generous to our local club as well, from purchasing appetizers for the entire group at our initial meeting at our newest venue, to organizing our upcoming inaugural MD-DC-VA challenge, to organizing and hosting the bridal shower for Eva Koca, née Mitter. (The thing I had to explain most was that danged 48-player bracket, which I do hope to consign to the dustbin of history, and the second-most explained inquiry was that no, Bob Koca was not playing in the Advanced division. We are researching the feasibility of including first names in the brackets next year. This is Washington, DC, so we will first form a bipartisan committee to form a subcommittee to form a commission which will investigate and report on the matter.)
