I put the position in XG yesterday and snuck a peek at the right answer. Surprising.

It always impresses me how being conservative in these bear in situations is usually the right approach. Braver, 'pay now' moves are generally unnecessarily risky, and that is the case here.

Even so, stripping the 6 pt seems so strange that I did not even consider it. I am sure there are some broader lessons here somewhere. (Of course, maybe the lesson is as simple as counting shots, but given that there are three reasonable plays and 21 replies to each, that can take a while - at least for me.)
