Oh, I forgot to comment on one thing:
How do you get a bot to say a chess player played 'world class' if the player lost the game 0-1?
This can be done. Chess engines can give you numerical estimates of your blunders. The main problem is that chess engines aren't close enough to perfect for this to be a more reliable measure of playing strength than actual results.
Also, the chess numerical estimates don't have as solid a mathematical foundation as backgammon equity does, but IMO this is not as much of a problem as the imperfection of the engines.
