Ian,

My regular playing partner and I recently had a position bet. He'd passed my initial cube, and I'd queried it. The 46k rollout more or less confirmed XG's evaluation: it was a take by 0.53.

Yet this player has one of the better UK PR's in live play (sub 5 mean), and has backed this up with a fine record in major UK tournaments, also having several cashes in the few he's done abroad.

We can nearly all have holes in our game, and/or moments when our judgement is impaired. Consistency is certainly impressive, but it really is our average that counts.
