Theoretically, the 'real optimum' style will always be different from the 'bot optimum' style, but in most cases the difference is not large but often exaggerated. Also, one needs to know how to play close to 'optimally' (assuming perfect play, which is effectively 'bot optimum'), as a starting point before one can make conscious deviations from it that improve one's MWC against a wide range of human skill levels. Playing as close as possible to 'bot optimum' is evidence of one's high level of understanding of the various aspects of the game, according to the generally agreed benchmark of bot style (it being considered the closest to perfect play that is available at a point in time).
