The point is to win of course. The reason I believe you see some supposedly <4 PR players don't win tournaments, and some >4 PR have more success is imo mostly due to luck. Back when gammonempire provided a platform to play day in and day out you could more easily see the correlation between technical skill and win percentage.

For people who follow poker, where players can play tournaments every week, we see that in the long run the skillful players have a lot of success, but there are long stretches of tournaments where they have no results at all.
